A song from the debut performance of our new band, Saratoga, at HABOT, a local bluegrass club in Kansas City this past Friday night. Gary Gray - banjo, Brian McCarty - mandolin, Rod Durst - bass fiddle, Todd Davis (yours truly) - guitar 10/19/18

Nice job, Todd!! Good flat picking. Good band. BTW, there is a great indoor bluegrass fest this coming weekend (starts Thurs night and goes to Sunday) just up the road from you in southern Iowa at the Honey Creek Resort in Moravia, IA. It's my favorite bluegrass fest of the year. Wonderful facility in a beautiful setting. The restaurant there is top notch too. Check it out and tell your bluegrass friends.

Thank you all.  Some day I'm going to go the Honey Creek Festival.  Lori King has pestered me to go since she began putting it on.   I told her, I have to pick and choose the ones I can attend.  I work full time and only have so much vacation time.  Hotel rooms and gas are not cheap either.  [smile]

I know exactly what you mean about having to pick and choose which fests to attend. I had to do that before I retired almost 3 years ago. My wife gets quite a bit of vacation time and now that I'm retired we get to go to quite a few fests over the year. Plus, our band plays festival gigs once or twice a month during the spring, summer, and fall. That helps scratch my bluegrass itch. But I do pretty much eat, sleep, and breathe bluegrass music year round. I LOVE it. Can't get enough of it. There's a great indoor fest coming to Marshalltown, IA the Friday immediately following Thanksgiving. I don't play at it but we will be going. Lots of great jamming, workshops, concerts, etc. It's at the Best Western motel as you come into town. Check it out.

BTW, Todd, you look familiar. Have you gone to any fests in the Midwest?

Yes, I've attended many festivals in MO, KS, IA, AR areas.  I don't get too far from home, unless it's a paying gig.  I've been going to festivals just about my entire life.   It's possible we have crossed paths somewhere most likely.
